CERTIFIED GUN COURSE INFORMATION

Once you have enrolled in any of these classes, you must then personally pick up a completed Firearms Safety Training Permit and other paperwork from the Sheriff of Warren County before attending class. One of these forms must be turned into the class instructor.

At the end of the course, you must then stop in at this office to have your fingerprints taken and other paperwork completed.

At this time you will need to pay a fee of $30.25 by check or money order made payable to: the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. As this will be sent through the mail, cash is NOT accepted.

When your fingerprints have been returned from the FBI (8-10 weeks), the Sheriff will call you to set up an interview time. At the end of the interview the permit may be granted, at the Sheriff’s discretion.

**If you currently have a Non-Professional Permit to Carry you may renew 30 days prior to & up to 3 months after the expiration date. If your permit has been expired longer than 3 months, you will be required to re-qualify. You can contact the above instructors to complete this task.

Please note: Once your permit is expired it is no longer valid.
